CIS clinches Basketball gold ahead Unilorin Sport Festival grand finale

The Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences has emerged champions of the Basketball event at the ongoing Unilorin Students' Union Sport Festival.

The Sport Secretary of the Students' Union, Comrade Bashir Adewale Bello told Unilorin Bulletin that the CIS Boys won the basketball final for the first time in the history of the competition.

The CIS team

defeated Team Faculty of Engineering in the finals by 41 to 32 points.

Elsewhere, Team Environmental Science defeated Team Education in the third place.

Comrade Bello also said that the closing ceremony of the ongoing Students' Union Sport Festival will hold on June 27. The Sport Festival began on May 14.

Among the dignitaries expected to attend the closing ceremony are the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem and other Principal Officers of the University as well as the Kwara State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Muyideen Alalade; the State Director of Sport, Coach Tunde Kazeem; the Dean of Student Affairs, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lanre Tajudeen Ajibade; and the Sub-Dean, Student  Affairs, Dr Alex  Akanmu.

Basketball, football, chess, tennis, scrabble and table-tennis are among the sporting events being competed for.
